About the IMS Japan Award
The IMS Japan Award, which began in June 2016 to commemorate the founding of the 1EdTech Japan Society, is celebrating its eighth anniversary this year. The IMS Japan Award, modeled after the internationally acclaimed Learning Impact Award (LIA) of the 1EdTech Consortium (formerly the IMS Global Learning Consortium), recognizes outstanding challenges that have made a significant contribution to the use of technology in education. The awards are for works and practices that have achieved digital transformation (DX) of education and learning, such as the realization of an educational digital ecosystem by effectively utilizing the interoperability of technical standards, or works and practices that have contributed to the domestic dissemination of 1EdTech technical standards. Applications are open not only to vendors who have provided products and services (including prototypes in the development stage), but also to educational and training institutions that have introduced them and put them into innovative practice. However, it is ideal for vendors and adopting institutions to apply together in close cooperation and present results that have brought about change in the adopting institution through the technology provided by the vendor.

An online seminar will be held at the e-learning specialist forum "Online Learning Forum 2023".

Date and time: Tuesday, November 7th, 11:10-11:50

Title: "Building a learning infrastructure using 1EdTech standards to support digital transformation in education"

Yuji Tokiwa, Chairman of the Technical Committee, Japan 1EdTech Association

Lecture summary: Educational DX is expected to not only introduce IT to the educational field, but also to transform the learning model of learning activities itself. To achieve this, teachers need knowledge of how to use IT and an IT infrastructure to support DX, and standards for evaluating DX are also necessary. This lecture will introduce the concept of realizing and evaluating DX, and provide an explanation and examples of the learning ecosystem that serves as the IT infrastructure for DX.
